The Hookup!

Yes, there is a trail in this picture, specifically DLS.  It's not easy to see, because it doesn't get much traffic.  Why?  Because its wickedly technical and obscure.  Sweet.

Did the DLS -> Flow Dog -> Flying Dog hookup.  Good stuff.  It is nice to get out and do some technical riding, now that I'm no longer focusing on endurance training.

This week, I also got out on a Colorado Springs trail I've never done before, Williams Canyon.  Talk about awesome!  Some really nice technical riding in a beautiful limestone canyon.  Gotta get back there soon.  The entrance drop-in below the shooting range is a bit "exciting."

Nice pic! Are all of the trails up there on the map that you can buy? I hae to pick that up - I've never ridden up there, but it looks like nice riding.

The Williams Canyon trail is great! It's really like a completely different world down there. A nice way to do it is to ride 3/4 of the way around the Waldo Canyon loop and then drop down to Williams on the connector trail. Then you can ride up Williams (the connector dumps you in ~halfway down it) and then turn around and ride down Williams from the top.

The trail map covers a pretty good selection of trails (mostly in the Preserve), but not all of them. Lots of good longer rides up in the actual mountains.

Thanks for the beta on Williams Canyon. I'll have to try that way sometime.

Connector trail is easy to miss - let me know if you plan on riding and I'll fill you in.

Another great long ride is up Barr Trail to 638 and then down Heizer into Cascade. From there you can connect to Waldo/Williams by crossing the highway and picking up the trail that runs past Howard's Rock. This is a seldom traveled route, but is fantastic if you like all day epics. All the trails are on the Pikes Peak Atlas map.
